Warrior Teacher Program

A 1-year alternative teacher certification program for educators who desire to teach full-time in select partner school districts in metro-Detroit. Candidates in the program will:

Work in a cohort to complete Michigan Department of Education approved teacher preparation courses;  and
Receive coaching and support from highly qualified faculty and staff. 


Elementary Education (K-5 all subjects; K-8 self-contained
Specific subject area in secondary education (grades 6-12)
Health and Physical Education (grades K-12)
Visual Arts (grades K-12)

Admissions Requirements 

The cohort must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 (conditional consideration for those with a GPA between 2.5 - 2.99).

Applicants Requirements

Be hired and recommended for admission by a selected partner school district in metro Detroit
Pass relevant Michigan Test for Teacher Education Certification
Have earned a bachelor's degree
Submit official undergraduate academic transcripts
Meet all admissions requirements for Wayne State University, which includes completing and submitting a recent criminal history check and TB test results
