Biography

Heather Ladanyi comes to the university with several years of healthcare experience in the fields of patient and family health education, corporate wellness, health coaching, along with supervisory capacities, in addition to the expertise gained from two advanced degrees (M. Ed. Health Education / G.C. in Gerontology).she has specialized skills in motivational interviewing and behavior change. Ms. Ladanyi has a strong command of program planning, design, methods, marketing, implementation, and evaluation.

Heather Ladanyi is the manager for the Division of Kinesiology, Health, and Sport Studies at Wayne State University. Within her role as manager of the division, Ms. Ladanyi oversees people, processes, and facilities to ensure operational effectiveness. She acts as the program coordinator and admissions coordinator for the PHD in Kinesiology. Ms. Ladanyi handles recruitment and enrollment for all KHS programs, which includes the creation of all marketing materials for the division besides managing the social media channels for the division. Heather has previously managed the All-Children Exercise Simultaneously (ACES) Day events hosted at WSU bringing over 1500 youth to campus over 2016, 2017 to perform yoga together. Ms. Ladanyi Managed the operations of the Wayne State University Farmers Market from 2018 to 2021.
She graduated from Eastern Michigan University with a B.S. in Sports Medicine. Ms. Ladanyi also holds a M.Ed. in Health Education alongside a Graduate Certificate in Gerontology, which has culminated in her pursuit of a Doctorate in Kinesiology with an expected graduation of December 2023. In addition, Ms. Ladanyi is a Master Certified Health Education Specialist, Certified Intrinsic Coach, American Lung Association Freedom from Smoking: Smoking Cessation Coach, additionally Ms. Ladanyi holds a Well Workplace certificate by WELCOA. Ms. Ladanyi is an American Heart Association State Advocate, where she works at the state level to support and rally for policy changes to improve the health of others. Her proudest advocacy involvement was as a contributing member of the committee who developed Michigan’s Smoke-Free Indoor Air Law, which passed in 2009. During her time here at Wayne State University, Ms. Ladanyi has been an active member on a variety of committees, including the WSU Yield Committee, CoE Scholarship Committee, CoE Marketing and Communications Committee and the Health Sciences Diversity and Inclusion Committee.
Ms. Ladanyi, a first-generation college student who was raised by a single parent in the city of Detroit and educated within the Detroit Public School system, firmly believes that education can elevate individuals from lower socioeconomic status to greater opportunities. Ms. Ladanyi is passionate about providing students with the best possible experience and supportive environment for them to learn, explore, and thrive as professionals.
