Bilingual Education Teaching Endorsement
The minor in Bilingual Education is for bi/multilingual educators interested in working with multilingual learners in bilingual education programs, including dual-language programs. The program provides coursework and training to work with multilingual learners in PK-12 classrooms and for certified teachers to obtain a Michigan Department of Education (MDE) Bilingual Education Endorsement. The Bilingual Education Endorsement certifies teachers to provide instruction in students’ home language(s) and in English for the subject(s) and grade level(s) indicated on their teaching certificate.
What you'll learn
This program’s immersive curriculum offers a unique blend of linguistics, teaching methods, and cultural fluency. Classes range from topics such as Home Language Use and Learning in Bilingual/Bicultural Education to Culture as the Basis for Language Teaching. Upon completion of the program, you will be well prepared to obtain your bilingual teaching endorsement, build on students' home languages and cultural knowledge, and advance your teaching career.
