Application Process for the Post-Bachelor's Program

Elementary Education

Due to the Michigan Department of Education changing the certification bands at the elementary level, we are currently reviewing and revising our Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT)/Post Bachelor (PB) Elementary program.

Therefore, there is hold on accepting Requests for Transcript Evaluations for the MAT/PB Elementary program.  Once the new MAT/PB Elementary program is revised, we look forward to receiving your application.  Updates will be posted on the College of Education website. If you would like to be sent information about the Elementary program, when available, please complete the Elementary Certification Program Information Request to submit your name and email address. We look forward to the opportunity to conferring and meeting with you.

Secondary Education

The Michigan Department of Education has adopted new standards and grade bands for teacher certification. Until the following new programs are ready for implementation, there will be a temporary hold on transcript evaluations for post-bachelor and graduate certification programs. Impacted programs include the following: 7-12 Math, 7-12 English Language Arts, 5-9 Science and 7-12 Integrated Science. We look forward to accepting your request for transcript evaluations in these new programs in the near future. These programs are being routed through the approval process and we expect to allow for transcript evaluations soon.

Please provide us your name and contact information so we may send you the information about these programs when available.

Program Requirements

Post Bachelor students complete courses identified on their Transcript Evaluation, which serves as the Plan of Work prior to admission to the Teacher Certification Program. To request a Transcript Evaluation, review the information regarding Initial Teacher Certification and complete the Request for a Transcript Evaluation form.  Indicate your teaching major/minor based on the information found on the following curriculum guides:

Curriculum

Students in this program complete an individualized Plan of Work with their advisor and the area of study that fits their teaching major and minor concentration when they start their course work.

Professional Licensure Program Disclosure

The University has determined that the curriculum of the initial teacher certification and endorsement programs at Wayne State University in the College of Education, leading to a credential as a certified teacher, meets the educational requirements for licensure or certification in all states.
