Amanda Noakes, College of Education student receives Athletic Department Dean's Award

The College of Education congratulates Amanda Noakes, who is a senior pursuing her bachelors in Kinesiology in the division of Kinesiology, Health & Sport Studies on be awarded the WSU Athletic Department Dean's Award yesterday, April 19, 2018, at the annual Athletics' Academic Luncheon. Amanda is the daughter of Phil and Debbie Noakes of Battle Creek, Mi. She is a member of the WSU women's golf team and has been named to the Athletic Director's Honor Roll (term gpa 3.5+) with perfect 4.0 term GPA all seven semesters. A two-time GLIAC All-Academic Excellence Team honoree, Noakes fired a season-best round of 77 last fall during the Saginaw Valley Invitational.

During 2016-17 academic year Amanda earned recognition to the GLIAC All-Academic Excellence Team selection ... appeared in four events and played in nine rounds ... best result was 39th-place finish at the Bulldog Invitational to begin the season, where she shot a 176 (90, 86) ... shot a career-best round of 82 in the final round of the GLIAC Championships (April 21-23) where she shot a 260 (88, 90, 82) to tie for 42nd ... finished 45th at both the Golden Grizzlies Invitational (Sept. 26-27) and the Cav Classic (April 10-11) ... shot a 173 (85, 88) at the Cav Classic, which was a season low for 36 holes ... 2016-17 recipient of the DII ADA Academic Achievement Award.

In 2015-16 she was named to the GLIAC All-Academic Excellence Team ... played in 16 rounds and finished with am 89.6 stroke average ... collected one top-25 finish ... shot a 185 (91, 94) at the Ashland Invitational ... carded a 179 (87, 92) at the Gilda's Club Laker Invitational ... finished with a 186 (96, 90) at the second Ashland Invitational ... led WSU with a 174 (85, 89) at the Bing-Beall Fall Classic to tied-for-49th ... shot a 177 (89, 88) at the Seminole State Spring Break Classic ... tied-for-69th at the NC4K Classic with a 183 (93, 90) ... finished season with a 260 (90, 85, 85) at the GLIAC Championships, ending her season with a season-low round of 85 ... 2015-16 recipient of the DII ADA Academic Achievement Award.

In 2014-15 Amanda played in 17 rounds and had the second best stroke average on the team with an 89.00 per round score ... season low round of 82 came on day two of the ONU Polar Bear Classic (Sept. 20-21) where she finished in second place with a 168 ... fired two rounds of 84 at the Findlay Fall Classic (Oct. 12-13) ... finished with a 266 (90, 86, 90) at the GLIAC Championships.

Amanda is a 2014 graduate of Lakeview High School was a four-time letter winner and a captain for the Spartans. Head coach Tony Evans helped her team finish second at the state tournament and win the league while shooting an average round of 87 as a junior. She averaged 81 as a senior as LHS won the league title for the fourth time in her career and finished fifth at the state tournament. Amanda was named team MVP as a senior and earned All-State honors, a four-time all-league and all-conference selection as well as a two-time all-city selection. As an individual, she placed fifth at the state tournament as a senior after placing second at regionals. A four-time honor roll student, was a part of the 2013 Girls Academic All-State team and also earned four letters in track & field.
