The Wayne State University College of Education is Hosting the 53rd Annual Junior Science & Humanities Symposium (JSHS) at the McGregor Conference Center, Wayne State University on Friday, March 10, 2017.

The Junior Science and Humanities Symposium (JSHS) Program is sponsored by the Academy of Applied Sciences and the U.S. Army, Navy, and Air Force. Since its inception in 1958, the primary aims of JSHS are to promote research and experimentation at the secondary school level and to recognize students for original research achievements.
In Southeastern Michigan, the program is housed in the College of Education at Wayne State University. Every year, students from high schools throughout southeastern Michigan attend a symposium at Wayne State University where they present their research and participate in a number of other activities.
Students participating in the JSHS have an opportunity to receive substantial scholarship awards at the regional and national levels.
This year, fifteen high-school students from across Michigan applied, and have been accepted to present their research findings. Four finalists will be chosen by a panel of judges to attend the National JSHS in San Diego, CA, April 26-29, 2017. An additional nominee for the Presidential Scholars program will also be nominated. Judges are Wayne State University faculty and graduate students from Science, Technology, Mathematics & Engineering departments, and Department of Defense Personnel from the U.S. Army Tank-Automotive Command Research, Development, & Engineering Center (Warren, MI).
