Congratulations to Justine Kane, Assistant Professor & Francesca Pernice-Duca, Associate Professor for the College of Education on Receiving the Kathleen Reilly Koory Endowed Faculty Development Award

Kathleen Reilly Koory Endowed Faculty Development Award

Howard and Beverly Reilly established the Kathleen Reilly Koory Endowed Faculty Development Award in 2004 in memory of their daughter Kathleen Stewart Reilly Koory, who passed away from breast cancer on July 14, 2001. Kathleen earned her bachelor's in education, her master's degree, and her educational specialist certificate from the College of Education. She taught in the Utica School District for 27 years and was passionate about her chosen profession. She maintained a close relationship with many of her students as they matured, graduated, went on to college, and started families. She left a loving husband, proud parents, many close friends, colleagues, and hundreds of former students with memories of a strong, talented and loving woman who lived life to the fullest and encouraged others to do the same. The purpose of the award is to recognize faculty achievement, encourage continued progress, and to recognize faculty who demonstrate significant contributions to the college.

This year's recipients are Dr. Justine Kane, Assistant Professor of Curriculum and Instruction in the Teacher Education Division, and Dr. Francesca Pernice-Duca, Associate Professor of Educational Psychology in the Theoretical and Behavioral Foundations Division. Dr. Kane was selected for this award in recognition of her research related to identity construction in urban elementary content area classrooms. In addition, this award is given in recognition of her dedication to her doctoral students and to TED's doctoral program overall. Dr. Pernice-Duca was selected to acknowledge her work as coordinator of the Counseling Psychology program, her outstanding publication record and her overall service to the College of Education.
