The Graduate School is pleased to announce two new Master's scholarships for the Spring/Summer 2015 semester.

Graduate School Retention Scholarship for Part-Time Master's Students

Deadline: March 13, 2015 for the spring/summer 2015 semester
Amount: This retention scholarship covers up to the cost of tuition for 4 graduate credits at Wayne State University in spring/summer 2015, not to exceed $5,000.
Description of the Award:
In an effort to retain and support students engaged in part-time Master's study, this need-based scholarship is available to degree-seeking students who demonstrate financial need and have been continuously enrolled in 2014-2015 in a Wayne State University Master's program.
Eligibility: To qualify for this scholarship, the applicant must:
· Be enrolled in spring/summer 2015 (i.e., enrolled in at least 3 credits in the spring/summer semester);
· Carry a 3.0 GPA in their Master's program, as reflected on an unofficial transcript;
· Be continuously enrolled on a part-time basis in 2014-2015, making satisfactory academic progress
· Have completed at least half of the degree requirements for their Master's program;
· A Plan of Work must be on file with the student's college or school;
· Students are eligible only if they are unfunded in the upcoming semester. GTAs, GRAs, GSAs, and students on other tuition scholarships or fellowships are not eligible for this award.
Application Process:
To apply, students should submit an unofficial copy of their graduate transcript, a copy of their approved Plan of Work, and a personal statement of no more than 500 words describing how they meet the award criteria. Students must also seek a letter of support from the Director of Graduate Studies for the Master's Program to which they have been accepted, and this letter must come directly from the Director of Graduate Studies. The letter from the Director of Graduate Studies should confirm the student's part-time status in the program and address whether the student is making satisfactory progress in their program of study. (Students are encouraged to have the Director of Graduate Studies compile all application materials and send them in as one application package.) All application materials should be submitted to gradscholarships@wayne.edu. The subject line of the email submission should read "Application for Graduate School Retention Scholarship for Part-Time Master's Students."

Selection Process:
Award decisions will be made by committee and will be announced approximately one month after the deadline.

Graduate School Scholarship for Outstanding Achievement at the Master's Level

Deadline: March 13, 2015 for the spring/summer semester

Amount: Up to $5,000 to cover a student's tuition in the upcoming spring/summer semester. Maximum award not to exceed $5,000.

Description of the Award:
This tuition-based scholarship has been developed to recognize outstanding Master's students who meet all of the following criteria: have demonstrated high academic achievement, active participation in WSU and/or community activities, and evidence of professional promise.

Eligibility:
Eligible students are those who are continuously enrolled during fall and winter semesters in a minimum of 3 credit hours in a Master's program at Wayne State University and who hold at least a 3.5 GPA in their program. Students must also be able to document their participation in WSU and/or community activities, as well as professional promise. Students are eligible only if they are unfunded when starting their WSU programs. GTAs, GRAs, GSAs, and students on other tuition scholarships or fellowships are not eligible for this award.

Application Process:
To apply, students should submit an unofficial copy of their transcript, a resume, and a personal statement of no more than 500 words describing how they meet the award criteria. Students must also seek a letter of support from a faculty member to accompany their application, and this letter must come directly from the faculty member. All other application materials should be submitted as one PDF file to gradscholarships@wayne.edu. The subject line of the email submission should read "Application for Graduate School Scholarship for Outstanding Achievement."

Selection Process:
Award decisions will be made by committee and will be announced approximately one month after each deadline. Students awarded this scholarship will be showcased on the Graduate School website and encouraged to participate in Graduate School activities.
