It is with a heavy heart that I share the sad news that we lost our beloved friend and colleague Lynne Morgan-Bernard. She passed away on Saturday, July 13 after a courageous journey with cancer.
Lynne joined the Division of Teacher Education at Wayne State University as a full-time Lecturer in August 2017. She completed her Ed.D. in our division's Reading, Language, and Literature program in 2015 under the supervision of Karen Feathers. Prior to Wayne State, she was a faculty member in Baker College for 20 years, and was a teacher and literacy specialist at Bishop Foley Catholic High School and Hope Academy in Detroit.
Lynne was a brilliant, dedicated, and generous faculty member. She epitomized what I aspire to be as a teacher educator: she held our preservice and inservice teachers to high expectations, while providing caring, timely, and effective guidance. In her course evaluations, students wrote about the positive difference she had made to their academic, professional, and personal development. Lynne was also eager to lead and support initiatives to help improve our programs and candidate performance. She served as co-chair of our Dispositions committee and a member of our MTTC committee.
Originally from Wales, UK, Lynne is survived by her husband, children, grandchildren, family, and friends. The visitation (3-9 pm) and service (7 pm) will be this Friday, July 19 at Wujek-Calcaterra & Sons, located at 36900 Schoenherr, Sterling Heights at Metro Parkway (16 Mile). TED will send a donation to the Michigan Ovarian Cancer Alliance in her honor.

We lost an invaluable member of our TED family, yet her legacy and memory will live on in our hearts and minds. To view her obituary and share a memory about Lynne: https://wujekcalcaterra.tributes.com/…/view_memo…/107300246…
