Congratulations to Min Yu, assistant professor of Social Studies Education in the College of Education for receiving the Academy of Scholars Junior Faculty Award from Wayne State University. The Academy of Scholars is committed to recognizing outstanding excellence in scholarship and in creative achievement of the faculty members at Wayne State University. The Academy's founding purpose was and has remained to raise the scholastic prestige of the university by bringing the most prominent academic experts to campus under its aegis and to create a community of scholars from among its most celebrated researchers. There is only a small number of faculty at the University who are recognized for their outstanding academic achievements. This year the Wayne State University Academy of Scholars selected Min Yu for their Academy of Scholars Junior Faculty Award. The Academy reviews faculty's academic record and obtains external letters of support.

The functions of the Academy are to promote creative achievement in scholarship by recognition and provision of incentives, to attract young scholars of outstanding promise, to bring to the University for a given period of time distinguished scholars from other institutions, to sponsor meetings of all types which stimulate interdisciplinary intellectual activity, and to promote intellectual interchange at all levels.
