Register now for the Saturday Art Therapy Workshop!

The Saturday Art Therapy Workshop has been in existence since 1992. It serves as a practicum class for graduate art therapy students and as a way to offer art therapy experiences to the extended university community. Each 10-week workshop, now offered during the Fall semester, is unique in design, depending on the composition of the groups and art therapy student facilitators. Art therapy experiences are offered for adults and children in both group and individual settings.

Adult participants might work on a theme or individualized projects for the semester. Children's groups are tailored for the age ranges that might be encountered, 5-18. The Young Adult Group typically encompasses young people with disabilities such as cognitive impairment or autism. If requested, and when possible, the program also offers individual sessions, which explore personal topics through the art therapy experience.

The culminating event is a participant art show, held during the last session. Artwork is hung in the Outer Gallery space in the front of the Art Building or in the main floor studio rooms, where family and friends gather to enjoy refreshments and art.

If you or someone you know might be interested in participating in the workshop or if you would like more information, please contact Dr. Holly Feen at 313-577-1823 or hfeen@wayne.edu or download the application from http://coe.wayne.edu/ted/art-therapy/index.php.
