The Canadian Studies Network, awards Roland Coloma, professor and assistent dean of Teacher Education in the College of Education and Gordon Pon, at Ryerson University, the Association's prize for the Best Edited Collection in Canadian Studies for their book The Asian Canadian Reader. The award reads, in part "[the book] embodies the interdisciplinary and plural perspective-taking that we might hope from Canadian Studies … the book itself demonstrates and intercultural focus that blends theory and empiricism well, drawing our attention to the complex ways that the diverse cultures and religions of Asia have been shaped by, and worked to shape, Canadian society and the nature of Canadian identity."
